<b>Mentors/Tutors</b><p><b>Black and Racialized Mentor/Tutor Program</b></p><p><b>June – December 2022</b></p><p><b>$18.00/Hour, 12 – 15 Hours/Month (Sep – Dec)</b></p><b>60 Hours of Training (Jun – Aug)</b><p><br></p><p>See Yourself in Limestone!</p><p>The Black and Racialized Mentor/Tutor Program is a new and exciting opportunity for interested individuals with lived experience to provide academic support in the areas of mathematics and literacy as well as social support to black and racialized students from grades 7 to 12, in small group settings. Working under the direction of the Secondary Equity and Inclusion Consultant, you will provide support outside of the instructional day, collaborating regularly with the larger team, participating in all training sessions and completing mentor/tutor reports.</p><p>The Limestone District School Board’s strategic vision centres on student and staff Wellness, Innovation and Collaboration. Situated in historic Kingston, on the shores of scenic Lake Ontario, the Limestone District School Board serves more than 19,000 students in 55 schools and 5 alternative education centres, covering a geographic area of 7,719 square kilometres across the City of Kingston, the Townships of Central Frontenac, North Frontenac, South Frontenac, Addington Highlands, Loyalist, Stone Mills, the Frontenac Islands and the Town of Greater Napanee.</p><p><b>Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience</b></p><p>• Must have Black and racialized lived experience</p><p>• Must be currently enrolled in post-secondary studies or currently employed </p><p>• Experience supporting and/or working with children and youth who have been historically underserved an asset</p><p>• Must demonstrate a willingness to learn, seek and apply feedback to improve practice </p><p>• Demonstrated initiative and flexibility</p><p>• Demonstrated growth mindset</p><p>• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to build and nurture positive relationships with students and staff </p><p>• Must have approved current CPIC, including Vulnerable Sector Check (or can obtain a CPIC prior to employment) </p><p>• Must provide proof of two doses of COVID-19 vaccination </p><p>• Must be able to provide transportation to assigned locations</p><p>Successful candidates will be required to complete all mandatory training, approximately 60 hours in total, or 15hours/month throughout June, July, and August, which will include online modules as well as in- person workshops.
